We do not apply commercial fertilizers of any kind to our pastures, relying instead on a grazing technique modeled after the migratory habits of wild cattle and bird populations. This labor-intensive, rotational system allows our freely-ranging poultry flocks to symbiotically forage, fertilize and cleanse the pastures behind our dairy herd. The resulting meat, dairy and eggs produced on our farm are of infinitely superior quality, both flavor- and health-wise than those produced conventionally, and in our opinion are significantly superior to typical

Loki Fish Company is a family owned and operated business founded in 1979 by Pete Knutson and Hing Lau Ng. Today, Pete and our older son Jonah run our two boats, F/V Loki and F/V Njord, harvesting wild salmon and halibut from southeast Alaska and Puget Sound. Our younger son Dylan manages the business.

Our salmon are gillnet-caught, handled respectfully, bled and dressed onboard, immediately chilled to below freezing in our refrigerated seawater holds, and then transported to Bellingham where our custom processor packs them to our specifications. We take pride in directly marketing every salmon that is harvested aboard our two boats. Our family is personally involved in every step from harvest to processing to direct sales, ensuring the highest level of quality.

It is a source of inspiration for our staff, volunteers and for the entire community to embrace.  Our work revolves around the food we grow, and the farm practices that we employ to regenerate soil and contribute to climate solutions. Local Roots Farm

siri@localrootsfarm.com

Local Roots is a diversified vegetable farm located in the Snoqualmie River valley. We grow a wide variety of crops, from kale and broccoli to heirloom tomatoes and lettuces. We sell our produce at our on-farm, honor-system stand, and offer a seasonal Community Supported Agriculture program. As farmers, one of our primary concerns is to grow food in a way that we feel good about.

Our farm is free from any synthetic fertilizers, pesticides herbicides, or fungicides. We build our soil's health by cover-cropping and with organic amendment like lime, composted animal waste, and kelp meal. We grow all our crops from seed, so we know how our produce was grown from start to finish. We believe that a safe and healthy food system is one that is transparent, so consumers can see for themselves how their food was grown, harvested, and brought to market. We work hard to grow delicious, healthful food in a way that is sustainable for us, for you, and for the environment.

The Root Connection

(425) 881-1006 root-coop@hotmail.com
Physical address (not for mail):

13607 Woodinville-Redmond Rd.

The Root Connection is Washington State’s first CSA farm. Since 1987, we have been growing local, chemical-free food for the community at our 20-acre site in the Sammamish Valley between Woodinville and Redmond. For those 30 years, we have offered our members the best of seasonal vegetables, herbs, and flowers. Most of our members pick up their produce right here at the farm.

Our harvest season is 21 weeks from June through October. Members can pick up their vegetables within just hours of when they are picked from the ground! This means that you are getting the highest quality produce possible, with superior flavor, texture, and nutrition. In addition to farm pick-up in Redmond, we have drop sites in Seattle and Lynnwood.

One of the biggest benefits of joining the Root Connection is that in addition to your weekly share, members can “U-pick” dozens of types of greens, herbs, and flowers for free! This adds even more value to your share. Share cost is about $43 per week, depending on payment method (or less if you pay early for a discount).

Our U Pick blueberry farm is located in the fertile Snoqualmie River Valley in Fall City. We're surrounded by a pristine slough that is home to marsh plants and critters.

We are about 30 minutes from Seattle, and 15 minutes from Redmond.

Our bluberries are on 5 acres. We grow 10 varieties of blueberries. Duke, bluecrop, reka are the dominant varieties. The fertile floodplain soil of Snoqualmie River makes our berries uniquely sweet and delicious.

Although we're not certified organic, we don't use any synthetic pesticides or chemical sprays on berries. We do use a natural fungicide in very early spring to control mummyberry disease which is so common in our region. This fungicide is also allowed in organic farming.

Imperfect Produce

Imperfect Produce

Imperfect Produce

More than 20% of the fruits and vegetables grown in America never make it off the farm because they aren't perfect enough for grocery store standards.

Imperfect fights food waste by finding a home for 'ugly' produce. They source it directly from farms and deliver it to customers' doors. They offer organic and conventional produce.

They are not necessarily cheaper than grocery stores, although they claim this on their website. If you compare their produce and your local grocery store, then see if they offer any produce that week that is less than your grocery store. They do have a 30% discount for EBT and SNAP users; see their application form to apply for their discount.
